Rift by Pariah
We’ve been waiting for new Pariah (aka Arthur Cayzer) material since first hearing his Safehouses EP back in 2010. In what turned out to be a hugely important year in the UK Bass world, with influential releases from James Blake, Mount Kimbie, and Girl Unit, Safehouses stood out amongst the best. After a successful collaboration with Blawan late last year under the Karenn moniker, (the track of theirs we posted is still our most viewed post of all time), Cayzer has finally returned with solo material. The Rift EP takes a darker approach - with a sad and somewhat eerie vibe throughout. Don’t sleep on this.

If the resurgence in house music is going to spawn offshoots like Bristol duo Behling And Simpson’s Crackcast 017, then we’ve all got reason to be thankful. Slo-mo chunky house jams, collide with sexy slow garage cuts in a mix that canters along at a wonderfully languid pace. Having set out their stall on Bristol’s Futureboogie label, this mix sets their sound apart from many of their contemporaries in such an effortlessly cool way. A sound for summer from a exciting new name, the mix features a number of their own productions as well as a couple of choice cuts from established names such as Nicholas, Kerri Chandler and Jimmy Edgar.
